Former Home of Green Day’s Bille Joe Armstrong Seeks $7.25M
The French Normandy-style home, which was once owned by Bille Joe Armstrong of Green Day, hit the market for $7.25 million. In the early 20th century, a home built by Julia Morgan lay on the land, but burned down in 1991. Armstrong built the current house — which pays homage to Morgan’s original home — in its place.
The home incorporates red bricks into the beautifully tiered walkway that winds throughout the lot. The master suite is one of the five bedrooms in the 6,900 square-foot home.
The property has had one owner since Armstrong sold it in 2009 for $4.85 million.
Doug Lambert and Rick Richetta of Compass hold the listing.

The Roessler Estate in Palos Verdes Estates Listed for $19.5 Million
If you want to own a piece of history then look no further than this Spanish Revival-style home in Palos Verdes Estates. This home was built for Fred Roessler, the city’s first mayor. He was instrumental in the efforts to incorporate Palos Verdes Estates. He served as the cities mayor from 1940 until his death in 1965 at age 71.
The 3.17-acre hilltop home was originally built in the 1920s, but was reconstructed in 2006. It boasts ocean views from nearly every room.
The property was originally listed last year at $27.5 million, but is now listed at $19.5 million.
Chris Adlam of Vista Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

The home spans 6,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, a home theater, formal living, dining rooms and a family room.

Westside Stories
The Dunbar Hotel was built in 1928 and was the center of a vibrant Central Avenue Los Angeles African American community in the 1930’s and 40’s. Guests through the years included W.E.B. DuBois and Thurgood Marshall. The hotel deteriorated with integration in the 1950’s. The neighborhood which was once central to the African-American community is now predominantly Hispanic. The hotel has been converted for use as apartments and remains in its original location.
