Does the “World’s Biggest Bookstore” Creator Now Own LA’s Biggest Home?
Or Just the One with the Highest Price Tag?
Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos recently purchased a new abode – and true to his “going all in” mindset, it’s pretty impressive. Sitting on more than 9 acres, this Beverly Hills estate – known by manyas the Warner Estate – was most recently lived in (and purchased with cash for in excess of $47 million) by famed record producer David Geffen, who called it home for roughly two decades.
Touted as the “richest person in the world” based on his estimated roughly $115 billion net worth (and followed closely by Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg), Bezos reportedly picked up the property for a mere $165 million, after touring “mega” mansions for more than a year to find just the right one. The sale price captured the top spot as the most expensive home ever sold in California.
Shrouded by tall hedges for added privacy, it’s been said that the home has a 50-foot long bar inside, along with a pool, tennis court, and two guest houses. Just some of the other unique amenities found here include a tree-lined driveway, fern gardens, and even a “small” 9-hole golf course.
One-of-a-Kind Pacific Palisades Concrete Treehouse
Ready to go out on a limb and be the proud new owner of a unique 3,500 square foot concrete and glass “treehouse” in Pacific Palisades? If so, this home could be the buy of a lifetime!
A creation of the famed modern architect Ray Kappe – who designed more than 100 homes (and passed away in November 2019) – this one is truly unforgettable. With four bedrooms and four baths (three full, and one partial), there is plenty of space for everyone – and the seamless connection between indoors and out provides the feeling of being surrounded by nature at all times.
Within its three levels you’ll find two fireplaces (one in the master suite), along with a family room and “extra” room that could be used as a studio or home office. There are also several balconies, accessible from different rooms, as well as a rooftop deck. As an added bonus, the home sits atop a long driveway, and is literally blended into its surrounding environment, and giving the vibe of additional privacy.
Located at 762 Latimer Road (in the Rustic Canyon neighborhood of Pacific Palisades), this property is currently listed for sale at $5.5 million. Private tours can be arranged for interested purchasers.

The home can be accessed via an upper-level carport, as well as via several patios and decks – which all provide a seamless indoor/outdoor transition. As an added coup, this residence has been widely published over the years, and it earned the City of Pasadena Preservation Award in 2012 based on its extensive museum quality restoration where every surface was rebuilt or restored to its original detail.
