Los Angeles, California, USA downtown cityscape.

If you’ve been considering home ownership in Los Angeles, it may be helpful to know what it’s really like to live in the area – especially if you plan to purchase your residence – as being your own “landlord” is quite a bit different from answering to someone else.

First off, for those who aren’t familiar with the area, there is a plethora of smaller “cities” within LA. So, depending on what it is you’re looking for (i.e., space, privacy, convenience to amenities, and / or easy beach access), you may need to do some homework before you start your quest to find your dream abode.

In addition, if you’ll be heading to the southwest from afar – such as the middle part of the U.S. – you may find that you initially have a case of sticker shock, as your money here in the City of Angels may not secure quite as much square footage as it does back home.

That being said, however, if you’re seeking year-round warm weather, a myriad of parks and other outdoor attractions, and a long list of ocean-related fun, then LA may just be the ideal place for you.
